Refillable Moleskine

Moleskines are kind of expensive, so you must treat them with a certain respect. Feeling a bit rebellious, I gutted a Moleskine Pocket and turned it into a reusable platform to be filled with cheap, yet high quality, refills.

I had a Moleskine Pocket lying around that I won from being a finalist in the My Moleskine 2.0 competition a few months back. I was a little bit bored, so I decided to turn it into a refillable cover, with the intention of putting some sort of workbook inside.

For now, I just filled it with 25% cotton ivory paper ($12/300 sheets), which I stitched together according to these directions. Theoretically, I can make about 20 booklets with one ream of paper. Overall I’m pretty happy (except for my signatures being slightly loose) and I’ve been writing stuff down without having worry about “wasting” the paper.

Quick Non-Moleskine Related Update

Lately I’ve been focusing on becoming more passionate about my life, rather than trying to solve any particular problem. I’ve been hanging out more with people and I’ve been feeling more excited. Playing games with people is fun, so I’ve been carrying around a deck of cards in my back pocket. It feels good to be a little less serious.

How true! I have to admit being inflicted with that malady of not wanting to spoil a new Moleskine. Reminds me of my mom, not wanting to light the good candle and saving it for another day. I love to look at and hold my Moleskines, but can reluctant to write in them.
